SolMet Systems specialises in Hydrology/Meteorology/Solar/Water Quality sensor, telemetry and data insight solutions for customers across the UK (and occasionally beyond). Field Engineer
Required: Contractor, or willing to set up as self employed. Employee role may be available for the right candidate
Required: Willing to travel across the UK to remote countryside locations and work in a full range of weather conditions. A sense of adventure, if you will. Overnight expenses covered
Required: Engineering background. Degree desirable but the most important factor is the right problem solving and project planning mindset
Required: Strong IT and tech skills and intuition
Required: Strong interpersonal skills. Good communication with customers, strong communicator to work with on site
Required: Ability to take responsibility for ones own safety and take initiative to stop if something is unsafe
Required: Willing to work away from home each week. Sometimes a night or two, sometimes Monday to Friday, Very rarely, over the weekend on a 10 day stretch (pay upped accordingly).
Required: Strong technical, professional report writing ability
Required: Ability to visualize a project upfront, take all required components and tools, think dynamically. Avoiding unnecessary revisits is the highest priority in this line of work.
Desirable: Based in the North of England. North West or Yorkshire is strongly desirable
Desirable: Knowledge of data protocols (SDI-12, Modbus, 4-20mA, pulse input, IP, etc/similar), knowledge of telemetry methods, knowledge of server configurations.
Desirable: Interest in DIY. Appreciation for civils and power tools
Desirable: Knowledge of Hydrology, Meteorology, Solar, Water quality measurement practices and parameters
Training on the job is more than welcome for the right candidate
